If you are wondering what BWC does. here’s the answer:

We have a ton of fun and ing the process we raise a few bucks for Linfield.

Here’s our latest donation to the athletic department — $1250.

Members of the BWC steering committee visited Linfield AD Garry Kilgore last week and presented him with the check.

BWC-Linfield Homecoming 50-year reunion blitz begins

This year begins three special years for the BWC. It marks the first of three straight 50-year reunion years for the Wildcat classes we built this event around.

When Gil and I got this idea started we had our class (Class of ’71) and the class just ahead of us and the class just behind us in mind. So as we enter year number 32 for the  BWC-Linfield Homecoming events it is kind of special.  This year it’s on Friday, Oct. 3 and Saturday, Oct. 3. Golf and a special event honoring the 50-year reunion class of 1970 will be on Friday and our Tailgater on Saturday.

We’ll golf at Michelbook on Friday. Not many changes there. Still $90 for 18 holes and includes your share of a golf cart, a free raffle ticket, all the range balls you would like to hit and beer as long as it lasts. It is open to all men and women and is surely one of the highlights of our weekend. For the second straight year, in lieu of our ever popular tee prize, we are showing our Philanthropic colors and donating any money above our cost for the event to the Gil Hargreaves Endowed Scholarship Fund and the Linfield Athletic Department.

Tee time is 1 p.m. (although we may be teeing off a little earlier if we can work it out) and registration begins at 10:30 p.m.

Last year the BWC was back at our old stomping grounds in in front of the Linfield Theater where we hosted upwards of 120 Wildcats circa 1965-75 give or take a few years). Same-o this year. We’ll begin around 10 a.m. Bill Hayden will again be catering with a menu that is above and beyond any tailgater you’ve ever been to. BBQ ribs, salmon, burgers, hot dogs, chicken, salads, chips, desserts and all the beer, wine, pop and water you hold. It’s all you can eat and it just $25 per person.

All that being said we hope you take a browse through this improving website. Look at our invitation list, glance at our history, enjoy the pictures and get excited about the coming year. Leave us a note or if you like send us an email to and keep checking in to this site as we will have pre-registration opportunities soon allowing you to sign up and pre-pay for our golf tournament and tailgater.

And tell your friends from our era. And of course we want to extend a special invite to those of you from the Class of 1970. We think you’ll have a great time visiting with your old classmates.

Bottom line is it is a great year to make an effort to get back to Linfield and in particular partake in the BWC.

31st BWC extravaganza set for Oct. 11 and 12

October is approaching rapidly and with it comes the Linfield event of the year. Oct. 11 and 12, 2019 are the dates you should have marked on the calendar now. You don’t want to miss out.  If you thought you had something else going on those dates that would be more fun we beg to differ. You can’t possibly find anything more entertaining to do so we fully expect you will be attending.

The golf tournament scheduled for Friday, October 11 at Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville, gives everyone a chance to tee it up and perhaps have a barley or two with your buddy. Our tailgate party is Saturday, October 12.

Master chef Bill Hayden will be catering our event so you know the food will be great.

Look for additional information in the coming weeks and set these dates aside. We guarantee you’ll want to be there.

Wow! Look at this cool website

We’ve kind of put off really delving into the electronic age for a long time. Not that we didn’t do okay with our original websites – this is our third effort – but it was time we made things a little more user friendly.

Way back when we first explored a web presence, I actually took a class and was able to piece together a kind of rudimentary site based on what I learned during the few hours I remained awake to give us our first appearance on the world wide web. It wasn’t long before it was obvious that it needed an upgrade.

Well, I wasn’t about to do it.

Kasia Stahancyk, one of the members of our Planning Committee at the time, stepped up and put one together that she maintained – with us supplying the content – for several years. It was way better than the first but Kasia eventually moved out of the area and we felt guilty about having such a big project take up so much of her time, especially over a long distance where our correspondence was kind of hit and miss.

Another committee member – Frosti Adams – kept bugging us to step into the new century and provide our group with a stronger, more complete website.

Enter Rusty Rae. Rusty, who has a long history of communications experience and who actually kept up with the trends of the computer age, joined our Planning Committee this year. WeP1050408 asked (okay begged) him to tackle a new website for us.

He stepped up and again, Wow!

When you get the chance after browsing the site (which is still a work in progress and will keep improving as we go) drop a line and thank him for his efforts.

So as I greet you all to this go-to site for everything BWC, I want to thank you all on behalf of the planning group for sticking with us for these 28 years. It began as you know as kind of a “let’s get the band back together one more time” thing back in 1988. Gil and I never expected it would evolve into this. That’s what we get for letting Hayden get involved.

Gil would have been in awe of this site. I’ll write more about our co-founder another day but suffice to say, although he was hardly what you would call ‘computer savvy’, he knew when something was done well. This one would have had him beaming. I could see his big ear-to-ear grin every time I took a peek at the progress.

So, trust me, if Gil would have liked it, so will you.

Please take your time, browse the different menus, see who is signed up to be here, send us the name and contact information of someone we’ve missed, offer us suggestions, make a comment telling us what you think and sign up on the membership page. BTW, when you become an official member, you can automatically receive an email to your inbox when there is news posted.

We are hoping you will also become a contributor to the site, which we want to become not just an informational site but a place where you can talk about Linfield, past, present and future.

Our goal is to keep it current week-to-week.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at our Homecoming events at Linfield in the fall. In the meantime I’m gonna browse around a little more myself. Like I’ve been saying throughout this blog, Wow.

BWC Tailgater 2019

It just like old times this year. Our BWC-Linfield Tailgater is moving back to our old haunting grounds in the football parking area.

Tailgater starts at 10:30 a.m.

It is still all you can eat and including hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, salads and everything else, even beer and wine.

Look for us under the covered area leading into the Linfield Theater although that isn’t completely official as we may have a conflict with the theater and could be forced to move to another venue. We will keep you updated on any possible changes.

So here’s the deal. The BWC Golf Tournament is back. Cost is $90 and includes green fees for 18 holes of golf, your half of a cart, one free raffle ticket, all the free range balls you want to hit and of course, the free beer. Not bad.

Our cool BWC Golf Raffle this year gives everyone an equal shot at outstanding prizes. You can take your chances with the free ticket that comes with your entry or buy more if you like.

Each member of the winning team will receive a traditional gift for their efforts and we have long drive and KP contests.

Times may change depending on the number of entrants.

For a lot of Homecoming attendees this event is the one thing they don’t want to miss. It’s all geared to fun and seeing old friends.

We had around 84 golfers last year and expect at least that many again. Check out the details below and get your entry in early. It’s a great way to kick off your Homecoming weekend.
